These are the top 5 Bay Area cities with the most price reductions of currently active inventory. Take this information with a grain of salt, as this is not any special indicator. Price reductions happen for a variety of reasons and are usually property-specific, not a reflection of an entire market. However it is interesting to see the number of reductions happening.

For those of you who are active in this market (agents/buyers/sellers), how do you interpret this data? Do you think this presents an opportunity for buyers to negotiate more on all listings? Do sellers need to be more realistic with their initial listing prices? Or is this completely irrelevant?
Notes about the data: Source: MLS data as of 3/5/2025. Listings are currently active single family homes in all counties except SF (which includes condos) that have reduced the price from its initial list date. The average DOM shown is only of the reduced price homes, not all active listings. For a list of the most price reductions from all Bay Area counties, you can view that here.
